Getting to Hokkaido

  • By Air: Fastest; New Chitose Airport (CTS) is main hub (~1.5 hrs from Tokyo).

  • By Train: Shinkansen to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto (5 hrs from Tokyo) → local trains to Sapporo (4 hrs).

  • By Ferry: Scenic but slow (~15 hrs).
